Default New class beyond gold drop - ultra rare

The green vs. gold discussion got me thinking that, yeah, most golds nowadays are absolutely worthless while some are very valuable but may not be recognizable to an unaware player. I'm sure many of us have suspected that we have at one time merched or unsold a quite valuable skin. I'd like to a see a new designation for the rare items that are in fact especially rare (maybe give them red letter color or something that will stand out). I'm not sure what we would want the cutoff to be. I don't think it needs to be super valuable, maybe stuff in the 10k+ range (like a saurian scythe being on the lowest end).

Can't be done. The value of skins are 100% the result of the whimsy of the playerbase (More likely, I suspect, a small percentage of the playerbase) and it changes.

Take the Elemental Sword as a prime example. Used to be considered "really freakin' sweet" and a well-modded one could fetch a nice price. Now after a few years of raptor farming, good luck even getting the 10k for it.

No, no, no. The last thing we need is more "rare" or unique weapon/weapon skins. It would be better if Anet expanded on the common to uncommon weapon skin category (ex: making more skins available as random drops or chest drops).

There are plenty of skins, and they drop quite often, the issue is there's almost no chance of connecting a buyer and seller for these low-end items (most significantly, the lack of an auction house). It's easier to find someone selling a voltaic spear than a barbed axe.

Agree with Lanier. Whilst it may be nice to have some more rare drops, it just sets up more elitism. There are already plenty of totally over priced things that peopel spend their lives farming.

^this. We really dont need to be eliteist to the extreme. And if you have some rare items.. typically noobs dont have them. And, if there had to be a color to it... id suggest Red lettering.

so /notsigned b/c we dont need more elistism and typically noobs dont have rare items.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I'm not advocating changing any particular rate of drops or adding anything new to the game, merely change the color of the lettering for some existing weapons to differentiate them from the typical "merch food" gold. And my motivation is not to make them any more "elite" than they already are, just to make them stand out enough so that attention is drawn to the unaware player that they do indeed have value and should not be merched.

The unaware player should invest more time in checking the party search in Kamadan or the PC forum at Guru.

And as said before, the value of an item is entirely player driven, it is not recognized by the game as being worth xxx ecto. More, the 'value' might plummet like with the Elemental Sword, making the system obsolete.

Also, red lettering has already been done.

It'd be sweet to see something along the lines of "new functionalities" such as 40% HCT/HSR, +20% Critical Strikes, +IAS/IMS/Armor% from a weapon vice having to get them from a skill, etc. They could be classified as High-End Uniques. That's just my opinion, anyhow...

But it doesn't really affect much because after a while the currently rare items will drop down in price, especially those that are not put in the chest at the end of a long dungeon.

However I rather they just ADD more items that cannot be farmed but are not tied to some end game area chest/boss.

Items are only worth what someone is willing to pay.
Whether its green or gold often doesn't make a difference...it's whether or not someone wants to pay money for it.

There already is another beyond gold. Requirements.

These actually matter as far as shields go.

New functionalities screw with balance. This is bad.

Yes. No new functionalities please until the current balance issues are at least mostly resolved (as if that will ever happen at the rate we are getting updates...)

Did someone mention checking the PC forumn?? Surely ye jest. Virtually nothing gets P.C.'ed anymore.

Furthermore very little has value in game any more. There are those Very Rare Mini's.. they will always hold value do to the rarity of the item. As for weapons...

this is how it goes for me
VS
BDS
Bo Staff
Canthan Dragon Staff
Eagle Crest Axe
Obby Blade
Emerald Blade
Crystaline Sword
Draconic Aegis
Tyrian Serpent axe (antique variety)
Storm Daggers
Demon Fangs (i think thats what theyre called)

thats just a quick list of items that still have serious value. now go get one. I dont think the UBER HOLY POOP RARE items drop any longer sooooo yea dont owrry about the new text coloring. If your boppin around the end chest in UW or Slavers youll know what has value and whats rubbish.

Just rework the Green items a little and you could have your ultra rare class.

Any weapon that is chosen for personal use by a powerful creature should be an elite weapon both in looks and stats, why else with all their riches and power would they use it.

Add whatever criteria for them to drop that you like.

Very low chance, only in hard mode, only after vanquishing an area etc.
Make it hard and time consuming to get but make it worth all the work when you do get it.

You could make them customisable too but I would suggest they become a gold item if they are altered.
This is to show that the weapon masters accessible to the players are not as good as the ones the boss used.
Thus they are no longer a legendary weapon and lose the named item state.

The Not signed is a good thing but why the noob thing ???

To me noobs are, players that need stacks of ecto's to enjoy a game.
And need uber rare to show off. It's a game
Men I play this game over 5 years, and stil don't understand why people get
so frustrated when they are not rich ingame.
I was just wandering in Footprint yesturday to gather some materials.
which I use for consets, armors etc. to do dungeons with shamefully just 4
hero's. O yea, Footprint.. I even get a green of one of those bosses and it
made me smile.

I agree that there should be a great variety of skins that could be dropt by
foe's ore chests.
But more uber rare.. no that we don't need.
And no to the flamers, it is not that I can't do the area's where the bling bling
weapons come from at this moment.. couse I had them and sell them for low,
or some times I even give them away to guildies.

^This

Also, no n00bs have EVER unwittingly merched extremely rare items outside the occasional black dye.

The items that fetch the best price are the ones hardest to obtain. Completing the UW or SOO to get a CC or a BDS makes it impossible for one to be a n00b by definition.
